About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a community of support and expertise for families navigating the ever-changing needs of raising a child. Inside Out is a place where parents no longer have to feel alone in their journey and can access expert advice, support and therapy for their child in one location.

A dedicated and professional team to support you and your family.

We understand that you are coming to us at a time of vulnerability and trusting us with what you value most – your child and family. To honour this trust, we have carefully selected a team of child and adolescent-focussed psychologists who are fully registered, experienced and passionate about what they do.

All clinical staff members have a master’s degree in their specialised area of psychology, are fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and the Australian Psychological Society. We each engage in regular supervision and professional development to ensure we are up to date with best practice and resources available.

Our intake officer can help match you to the right psychologist to suit you and your family’s situation and needs.

Irene Robertson
Clinical Psychologist
BSc, G.Dip. Psych, G.D. PsychSc, MPsych(Clin), MAPS

Note: Irene is currently not taking new clients.

I help people through the emotional and relationship issues that arise at various stages in their life. Relentless and intense feelings of overwhelm, disconnection, low motivation or sadness can leave you feeling helpless and unsure of where to turn. By this stage, it’s common to feel as though it’s your fault or something is truly wrong with you.  I can help by supporting individuals to understand where these difficulties are coming from and how to overcome them, free from negative self-judgement and with a new confidence.

If it is your child that is experiencing these difficulties, I can work with you as a family to repair relationships, build resilience and guide your child through hardship. I assist parents to understand concerning behaviours in their children and transform their approach to dealing with these behaviours and reconnecting with their child.

I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and experience working with both adults and young people (and the parents and families who support them) in private practice and public mental health settings. I work collaboratively to achieve client goals, and use a client-centred, warm, and empathetic approach to therapy. I draw on evidence-based frameworks to best meet individual and family circumstances, including cognitive-behaviour therapy, attachment, family systems and functional behavioural support.

I am a registered psychologist with a Master and PhD in Educational & Developmental Psychology. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents and their families from a range of cultural and social backgrounds. I have a keen interest and understanding of the assessment and diagnostic processes of Specific Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have also presented at professional conferences about cognitive ability theory, and it is my belief that understanding the full cognitive profile of strengths and weaknesses is paramount in ensuring best outcomes for a child’s academic learning.

I draw from a range of therapeutic models in my practice, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. I am passionate about being in your child’s corner, and I acknowledge the value of involving parents and teachers in the therapeutic process. Being able to equip children and their parents with a toolkit of life skills is a privilege that I value highly.

Aaminah Kabli
Psychologist (Educational & Developmental Psychology Registrar)
BSc(Hons), MPsych(EdDev), MAPS

I am an Educational and Developmental Psychologist. This area of psychology deals with how humans develop through their lifespan and how they learn in different ways. I primarily work with children, adolescents and younger adults. In doing so, I work closely with their systems, such as their parents, carers, partners and schools to provide provide holistic assessments and therapy.

I have worked with school aged children for over 9 years – first as an educator and then as a psychologist. Before working at IOP, I worked at headspace, where I provided individual counselling and group therapy to young people aged 12 to 25 years and their families. I have also worked for the Department of Education and Training during which I worked closely with schools as a consultant and advocate for students with additional and diverse needs.

In my therapy, I use techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness based therapies. My goal is to help my clients understand and navigate their challenges, and to create a safe space for them to heal. My practice is trauma informed, strengths based and person centered.
